Magnetization and magnetic susceptibility of Gd based PbS
2001
Abstract The magnetization and static magnetic susceptibility of PbGdS are reported for magnetic fields up to 9 T and temperature range of 2–300 K. The low field magnetic susceptibility data exhibited Curie–Weiss behaviour over the hole temperature range. The Weiss constant characterizes the overall exchange as antiferromagnetic for all samples studied. The magnetic field dependence was fitted to a modified cluster model (Karczewscki et al., Solid state Commun. 55 (1985) 249; Mc Curie and Shofer, J. Appl. Phys. 35 (1964) 984), which take into account the contribution of the pairs in order to determine the interaction between the nearest-neighbour Gd 3+ ions.
