PROPOSED EXPRESS RAIL SERVICE BETWEEN DOWNTOWN DENVER AND THE NEW DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The purpose of this paper is to present the viability of an express, high-speed, all-day commuter rail service between downtown Denver and the new Denver International Airport (DIA) which opened in February, 1995. This paper is based on an implementation study conducted between January, 1993 and July, 1994 for the City and County of Denver. This service has been given the name "Air Train". This paper presents this information in the following sections: Overview of Proposed Project; Project Need and Objectives; Alternatives Considered; Project cost and Finance Plan; Transit Ridership; Value of Benefits; Relationship to State, Regional, and Local Plans; and Summary.
