The Analysis and the Coping Strategies of LED Color Temperature Under Different Potting Ways with Silica-gel

When the tape light LED surface is potted with silica-gel, the color temperature of the tape light will shift, which makes the light color quite different to the expectation of the design. This thesis describes the mechanism of color temperature increase caused by silica-gel refraction through experimental comparison and theoretical analysis. Two methods of controlling the color temperature of LED luminaire(LED light rail) are recommended: One is to control the potting process to keep silica-gel away from the LED emitting surface; the other is to adopt LED with lower color temperature, and to make up the lower color temperature through controlling the thickness of silica-gel to meet the requirement for the product. LEDs can also acquire good moisture and water proof ability with this method.
