The present invention describes an improved method of forming a solid electrolytic capacitor and the solid electrolytic capacitor. The method includes forming an anode comprising a conductive oxide of a valve metal or valve metal, wherein the protruding anode lead extending from the anode. Forming a dielectric on the anode, and a cathode layer formed on the dielectric. An anode, a cathode, and a dielectric layer of the packaging in a non-conductive material, the anode lead extends at one side surface exposed to the outside of the package. Preferably, the solid metal terminal by a pre-formed, most preferably by L-shaped terminal connected to the electrically conductive metal layer at the surface side, to the conductive metal layer is attached to the anode lead extension.
