Fault current contribution from state of the art DG's and its limitation

The paper describes the policy and considerations of a Dutch utility with respect to the assessment of the fault current contribution of DG's, especially for DFIGs. Simulations and measurements confirm the validity of a simplified approach of the behaviour of DFIGs and full converter generators under fault current conditions. A new fault current limiter (FCL) for single phase fault currents is described shortly. It is compared with conventional neutral treatment methods and can be applied for special cases. In addition, measurements of fault current limiting through full converters are shown.
