Bovine ketosis: a review with recommendations for control and treatment.

SUMMARY Nutritional and biochemical studies on bovine ketosis (acetonaemia) that have been carried out at the Institute for Research on Animal Diseases at Compton over the past ten years are reviewed in relation to relevant studies carried out elsewhere. Various conclusions are drawn concerning the aetiology of ketosis. These conclusions are then used as a basis for making specific recommendations that should be of help in the control and treatment of the clinical and subclinical disease.
