Methods for the assessment of sealing ability to determine the height of the oil column and the production of hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation

2006
METHODS FOR THE EVALUATION OF SEALING ABILITY TO DETERMINE THE HEIGHTS OF OIL COLUMN AND FOR OIL PRODUCTION FROM A TRAINING underground. Method for the production and the likely determination of total seal capacity for a pickup of hydrocarbons, while considering both the pressure capillary inlet and mechanical sealing capability, and where the pressure of the capillary inlet is estimated relating the same directly with buoyancy pressure applied by the oil column at the top of the seal. The method therefore takes substantial uncertainty associated with power parameters, which uncertainty limits the usefulness of such analyzes for height robust predictions column hydrocarbons and contact with the fluid. The method presented to estimate the capillary inlet pressure, inlet requirement parameter for analyzing the ability of the capillary seal by inverting the retention values, avoids the need for direct measurement by means of capillary capacity tests mercury injection in small pieces of rock, the results of tests often are not available for all desired locations and are not necessarily representative of adjacent rocks in the seal.
