["In the Shade of the Baobab" exposition circulates in Africa]

2001
The "Under the Shade of the Baobab" exhibition was produced by about 20 African sketch artists to teach preadolescents about the health and education problems faced by African women and children as well as to encourage young people to reflect upon their own behaviors. After being seen in France the show will travel through Africa in the care of local artists and associations. Its voyage through Madagascar Central Africa Cote d’Ivoire and elsewhere across the continent is being financed by Alliances Francaises and French Cultural Centers. One example of drawings included in the exhibit is a cartoon strip describing the history of unprotected sexual relations between young students and their partners. Local actors and associations are involved with the show as often as possible.
