The summary The results of the comparative analysis of the nanostructure of type 1 collagen of the alveolar bone human jaw in patients with connective tissue dysplasia are provided. Following the respective criteria elaboration, evaluation of the morphological characteristics of the alveolar bone collagen structures of autopsy material was conducted with the use of the atomic force microscopy. There have been discovered morphometric differences in between the two control groups: in patients with periodontitis and in patients with periodontitis associated with connective tissue dysplasia. Periodontitis was found to cause morphological changes of the submicroscopic structures in linear, volumetric and spatial characteristics of the collagen fibers. The said changes reflect the features of connective-tissue metabolism, as well as the peculiarities of periodontitis progression in patients having the signs of connective tissue dysplasia.
