Study on the psychological status and nursing intervention of the pregnant women with syphilis

Objective To investigate the psychological status and nursing intervention of the pregnant women with syphilis. Methods The psychological status of 50 the pregnant women with syphilis was evaluated by Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAS) and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDS), which was compared with that elicited from 50 controls. Results The scores for anxiety and depression in the pregnant women with syphilis group were significantly higher than those in controls. The patients often scored higher if they were treated regularly, struggled with the disease for a long time, or suffered from other venereal diseases.The nursing intervention significantly reduced the patients with depression and anxiety. Conclusion Anxiety and depression were common in the pregnant women with syphilis. Clinicians should pay more attention to the psychological conditions in these patients and the nursing intervention should be given in time.
