Interpretation of nonlinear Faraday rotation in samarium vapour

Abstract It is demonstrated that recent theoretical work which gives analytical expressions for Faraday rotation with radiation of any strength accounts satisfactorily for the features of published experimental curves obtained in samarium vapour, reproducing observed features due to the relaxation of both population and coherence.
