Geometric optimization design and performance test of 1-D circular phased array probes for wind turbine bolts detection

In this paper, a 1-D circular phased array probe has been designed for detection of bolts of wind turbines. Considering the factors of avoiding the influence of the thread-reflected waves and the applicability of in-service wind turbine bolt detection, the geometric parameters of the probe were optimized, including the inner diameter, the outer diameter and the radius of the neutral circle. The parameters of the probe were tested, including the center frequency, the bandwidth, the pulse width, the sensitivity and the crosstalk. The test results showed that the probe can meet the test requirements.
