El Tratado de Lisboa, por su parte, ha procedido a una puesta al dia de las correspondientes disposiciones, que quedaran integradas en la Segunda Parte del TFUE (arts. 18-25), junto con el principio de no discriminacion. Es en el ambito de la democracia participativa donde el Tratado de Lisboa presenta los desarrollos mas significativos, en particular mediante la creacion del mecanismo de la iniciativa ciudadana. Asimismo, se refuerza el principio de democracia representativa, a traves sobre todo de la ampliacion de los poderes del Parlamento Europeo. Finalmente, el nuevo Tratado declara que la Carta de los Derechos Fundamentales de la UE - que contiene un Titulo V sobre "Ciudadania" - tendra el mismo valor juridico que los Tratados. EnglishAs a measure aimed at highlighting the growing political dimension of the European integration process, the Treaty of Maastricht included the notion of Union citizenship in the ECT (European Community Treaty). The Treaty of Lisbon itself, has attempted to update the corresponding provisions, which will be incorporated in the Second Part of the TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) (articles 18-25), together with the principle of non-discrimination. It is in the field of the participatory democracy where the Treaty of Lisbon presents the most significant developments, in particular thanks to the creation of the Citizens' Initiative mechanism. Likewise, the principle of representative democracy is reinforced, above all, through the increase of the European Parliament powers. Finally, the new Treaty states that the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU - which contains a Title V on "Citizenship" - will have the same legal value as the Treaties.
