In Situ Bioremediation of a Former Fuel Depot, a Case Study

The old industrial area on the banks of the ship canal between Brussels and Antwerp is being upgraded as part of the effort to revitalize the Brussels Region (Belgium). Industries in the area are primarily chemicals and petrochemicals, which have been located here since the start of the century. In consequence most of these sites show signs of both soil and groundwater pollution. In several cases remedial measures are necessary.
