The effect of cilazapril as monotherapy or in combination with hydrochlorothiazide was assessed in 30 severely hypertensive patients, 23 men and seven women, aged 38 to 68 years, with sitting diastolic blood pressure of more than 115 mmHg. Fifteen patients had left ventricular hypertrophy documented by two-dimensional echocardiography.
