Implementation of an APL-driven laboratory interface

1979
The Chemical Engineering Department at Case Western Reserve University has constructed an APL-driven, multi-unit hierarchial, microcomputer laboratory interface to connect real-time experiments to time-shared APL computers. The key aspect of the system is that it can be used and reconfigured by the relatively naive user totally in APL. The systems that we have built will be described, including the hardware structure, software and problems encountered. The theoretical background of the system will be outlined in appendix III.
