New Insights on the Structural Style of the Central Part of Block 32 – offshore Angola Using State-of-art BiWATS PSDM Seismic Dataset

Summary The brand-new structural interpretation of the central part of the block 32 — Angola using the BiWATS dataset revealed the presence of deeply buried salt minibasins as well as numerous salt sutures over transported salt diapirs, salt tongues and salt canopies. Five major salt nappes segmented by six transfer corridors were identified highlighting the high level of compression sustained in this structurally complex area. Bi-azimuthal wide azimuth seismic acquisition in complex salt tectonics such as compressional domain of salt gravity systems proved to be a game changer in terms of structural interpretion especially in the deeper part of the seismic below salt canopies.
