Multi-phase particles and methods for producing multi-phase particles

The present invention relates to a method for producing a multi-phase microparticles. The method comprises at least three different polymers dissolved in a volatile organic solvent to give a first solution. The first solution comprises at least two cloud point, wherein the second cloud point is higher than the first cloud point. Selecting a first solution viscosity and cloud point such that the first and second at least three different polymers in the first solution immiscible with each other. The first aqueous solution comprises a surfactant dispersed in a continuous phase to obtain an emulsion. The volatile organic solvent is evaporated from the emulsion. The total concentration of the emulsion before the evaporation of at least three different polymers together in a first cloud point, cloud point at or above a first and a second cloud point, cloud point, or above a second. The present invention further relates to a multi-phase particles prepared by the methods and pharmaceutical compositions comprising multiphase particles.
