Comparative Analysis of WLAN, WiMAX and UMTS Technologies

Today wireless communication systems can be classifled in two groups. The flrst group technology provides low data rate and mobility while the other one procures high data rate and bandwidth with small coverage. Cellular systems and Broadband Wireless Access technolo- gies can be given as proper examples respectively. In this study WLAN, WiMAX and UMTS technologies are introduced and comparative analysis in terms of peak data rate, bandwidth, multiple access techniques, mobility, coverage, standardization, and market penetration is pre- sented.
