The Princely Tumulus Gruda Boljevića Podgorica, Montenegro
2012
This paper presents the results of the excavation of an earthen tumulus of the Eneolithic/Early Bronze Age period. The artefacts deposited in this burial monument posthumously testify to the high, “princely” social status of the deceased. The central grave is a rectangular pit dug into the virgin soil, partially surrounded by a number of unworked rocks of small dimensions. The tumulus built up above the grave was made of a number of layers of earth, about 20cm thick, separated by thin layers of clay.
