Cell Monitoring and Its Application on a Fuel Cell Engine

Every single cell in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell(PEMFC) will directly affect the operation state of entire fuel cell stack,and so real-time monitor for single cell voltage is needed.This paper introduces a Single Cell Voltage Monitor(SCVM) System for a 5kW PEMFC stack applied on a mini fuel cell car.The structure with certain key circuit analysis,the working principle and programming design of the SCVM system,which communicates with a Fuel Cell Control Unit(FCU) through CAN-BUS,are described.An outlook of the system is given for further investigation.
