A novel broadband low loss millimeterwave power combiner

2015
In this paper, a novel four-way millimeter wave power combiner based on waveguide power-combining circuit has been presented and investigated. The waveguide power combiner was achieved with the improved E-plane T-junction structure and the waveguide-to-microstrip transition structure. The corner cut and impendence transformer were placed in the T-junction waveguide to improve the port matching. The structure has advantages of easy fabrication, low loss and a wide operation band of 31.8%. The structure is simulated and optimized at W band by using Ansoft-HFSS. The combiner has demonstrated operation over a broadband of 75 GHz to 110 GHz with more than 9.2 dB return loss and less than 2.1 dB insertion loss. The simulated results illustrate very good match to the theoretical analysis.
