Incorporating process uncertainty and analytic design of PID controllers into undergraduate process control

Unique features of the undergraduate process control course described in this article are that 1 an internal model control framework is used to develop PID controller design methodologies for very general processes, 2 process uncertainty is incorporated into the design methodology using MATLAB-based software that we call IMCTUNE, and 3 all exams are open book, open notes, and open computer. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
