A Soft-Decision Decoding Algorithm of Reed-Solomon Codes Based on Bits Reliability Information

According to Chase algorithm, this paper modified the existed soft-decision decoding algorithm of Reed-So1omon codes using symbol reliability information. Replacing the symbol reliability information by bits reliability information, the modified algorithm can make use of the received soft bits information more adequately than the existed algorithm. The simulation and analysis results show that the modified algorithm can provide higher decoding gain over the existed algorithm with the same computational complexity.
