The invention relates to an insulation test device and method for testing solar photovoltaic modules, belonging to the technical field of solar batteries and solving the technical problem of batch test of different sizes and different types of photovoltaic modules. The insulation test device is a detection device which is insulated outside and conductive inside and is provided with a certain storage space. The insulation test device is provided with a bleeder valve core and an electrode connection, the photovoltaic modules are arranged in the test device and vacuumized, a conductive material in the test device covers the photovoltaic modules, the photovoltaic modules and a resistance tester are connected by the electrode connection, and the insulation resistance value is detected according to the standard requirements. The insulation test device and method disclosed by the invention are simple in structure, wide in application, convenient to operate, high in accuracy, combined with standards closely, capable of realizing wide application range of small products, suitable for different sizes and types of photovoltaic modules and capable of simultaneously testing a plurality of photovoltaic modules; and the insulation test device can be recycled and realizes batch insulation test of the photovoltaic modules.
