The expression of sex determining region Y-box 4 and proliferation cell nuclear antigen in gastric cancer tissue and its clinical significance
2018
Objective
To study the expression of sex determining region Y-box 4 (SOX4) and proliferation cell nuclear antigen (Ki-67) in gastric cancer and investigate the clinical significance with the expression of SOX4 and Ki-67 in gastric cancer.
Methods
Immunohistochemistry mothod was used to detect the expression of SOX4 and Ki-67 in gastric cancer in 60 gastric cancer tissues and 60 nearby normal gastric tissues, the relationship between the expression of SOX4, Ki-67 and the clinicopathological parameters was analyzed.
Results
The SOX4 highly express in the gastric cancer tissue and the positive rate of SOX4 expresssion in gastric cancer was 71.7% (43/60), no expression of SOX4 was detected in normal gastric mucosa. The Ki-67 highly express in gastric cancer in the gastric cancer tissue, and the positive rate of the Ki-67 expression in gastric cancer was 86.7% (52/60). Both the expression of SOX4 and the expression of Ki-67 in gastric cancer were positively associated (r=0.615, P=0.003); The expressions of SOX4, Ki-67 in gastric cancer were not related to the age, gender, tumor size and the tumor infiltration depth (χ2=0.056, P=0.821; χ2=0.572, P=0.461; χ2=0.131, P=0.882; χ2=1.479, P=0.223 and χ2=0.652, P=0.482; χ2=0.567, P=0.512; χ2=0.545, P=0.652; χ2=0.781, P=0.691). The expressions of SOX4 and Ki-67 were positively associated with histological differentiation, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage (χ2=6.522, P=0.016; χ2=7.681, P=0.005; χ2=9.205, P=0.003 and χ2=6.761, P=0.012; χ2=5.521, P=0.032; χ2=5.857, P=0.017)in gastric cancer.
Conclusion
SOX4 and Ki-67 were highly expressed in gastric cancer, they may play important roles in the tumorigenesis and progression of gastric cancer and there is a close relationship between them.
