IDENTIFICATION OF PLASTIC PIPE LOCATION TECHNOLOGY THROUGH A FEDERAL LABORATORY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CONTEST. TOPICAL REPORT, MARCH 15, 1993-DECEMBER 31, 1996

1995
Electromagnetic locators cannot locate plastic pipe unless a conductor, tracer wire, is buried near the pipe and brought to the surface for signal injection. Wire shifting or damage reduces this type of locator effectiveness. This program`s objective was to see if any current Federal laboratory technology can locate buried plastic pipe better that tracer wire. A second objective was to determine how to identify Federally developed technology and transfer it to the gas industry.
