Effect Assessment of Low Temperature Water in Reservior on the Growth of Wheat

2009
In China, the ecologic impacts of hydropower development have drawn the society’s great attention, especially, the impact assessment of low-temperature water for huge reservoir is the necessary chapter in the assessment statements. Selecting two fields abutting each other, irrigation experiment was conducted on wheat using two water resources with the same irrigation quota and quality; the effect of irrigation water temperature on soil temperature and the growth of wheat was studied. The results showed that the difference of soil temperature was less than 1°C in 0 to 20 cm depth when two sorts of water resources with the temperature difference of 6 to 8°C were irrigated, and moreover, that there were no significant change in the yield per hectare, growing period, population dynamics and basic characteristics of yield evaluation. Finally, the detailed mechanism analysis to the test result from the two aspects of the ground temperature change rule and the plant growth characteristics to temperature requirements were made to draw conclusions: (1) air temperature is the controlling factor on the soil temperature; (2) the impact of low temperature water on wheat growth in the nutrient stage is not obvious.
