광주 푸른길 공원의 경계에서 나타나는 개인화 행태와 영역성에 관한 연구

2015
Pureungil Park in Gwangju is a linear urban park which has transformed from an obsolete railway in the past. This former railway park which was playing a negative role that prevented a balanced urban development of the city by blocking the accessibility into this area from other parts of the city now has become a public territory completely open and accessible to the public. However when the area which had been separated for long time was suddenly accessible to the public, new social and urban issues have arisen; the invasion of privacy and the confusion of city landscape. This attempt to communicate between the former railroad and the neighboring areas by getting rid of the physical boundary has again created a new boundary consisting of public and private territories, and the transfer space between the public and the private has appeared. In some areas of this transfer space, the personalizing behaviors by the residence are witnessed and in turn informal privatized territories in the public area have created. This study focuses on land-use behaviors by the residence on the edge of Pureungil Park, especially the behaviors of personalizing the public space. First, the study observes personalizing behaviors by the residence and figures out the ways in which this personalizing behavior creates the sense of place and eventually territoriality. Through the investigation of the personalizing behavior, this study aims to understand how this territoriality are constructed and affect the Pureongil Park and the neighboring urban areas physically and socially as well.
