A method s described, utilizing a Si detector, for measuring the energy and line width of monoenergetic neutron beams at .8 to 18 Mev. The method consists in the measurement of the total kinetic energy (T) of the alpha particle and ground-state Mg/sup 25/ nucleus formed in the reaction Si/sup 28/(n, alpha ), Mg/sup 25/ in the detector.
