MEIBOMIAN GLAND DYSFUNCTIONS AND THE OCULO- PALPEBRAL PATHOLOGY AT CONTACT LENSES WEARERS

2014
DGM Meibomius gland dysfunction is a common eyelid condition, 35% -50%, a percentage that increases with age. It is a major cause of evaporative dry eye cause loss of glands resulting in reduction of the tear film lipid layer, the aqueous layer causing increased evaporation of the tear film instability causing ocular surface disorders and the free edge of the eyelid. DGM plays a major role in the pathology of eyelid margin. It is very common, but often unnoticed, ignored and undiagnosed.
