Study on Compatibility of Formalin Catching Agent with Urea-formaldehyde Resin

Experiments were conducted on compatibility between formalin catching agent and urea-formaldehyde resin under different conditions,and on productive trial for manufacture of fiberboard.The results showed that formalin catching agent couldn’t coexist with urea-formaldehyde resin,but could be added at glue mixing.More formalin catching agent was added,less pH value changed,lower viscosity and free formaldehyde emission,longer curing.Formalin catching agent could reduce free formaldehyde about 50%.It was a good choice to apply formalin catching agent to produce environment friendly fiberboard,but it need to adjust curing agent dosage or select other curing agent,and optimize technology parameters.
