Psychologists in criminal proceedings: An international comparison

Abstract The process of conducting forensic mental health assessments of defendants accused of serious crimes is described and compared as it takes place in two criminal justice systems, i.e., The Netherlands and Massachusetts (U.S.A.). The forensic psychologist's role, contributions, professional status and training are discussed and analyzed.
