A simple and sensitive assay for varicella-zoster virus.

Abstract A plaque assay procedure has been adapted for VZV which, by obviating the need of a preformed cell monolayer, shortens the assay time, and provides improved sensitivity. The size and clarity of the plaques obtained are comparable to those seen in previously-described plaque assay methods for VZV.
