The influence of atropine on insulin- and 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG)-induced gastric acid secretion and gastrin release in dogs.

1977
Abstract The stimulatory effect of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) was found early and was prolonged as compared to the effect of insulin in the release of gastric acid and gastrin. The anticholinergic drug atropine effectively inhibited acid secretion in doses of 0.05 to 0.2 mg/kg, having no influence on gastrin release.
