Hierarchical resource management system on network virtualization platform for reduction of virtual network embedding calculation
2013
Network virtualization platforms must support a variety of network devices and resources so as to accommodate multiple network architectures or applications with different features while the network devices in the platform should be capable of being scaled out for sustainable development. However, this flexibility makes the time needed for virtual network embedding/mapping/assignment (VNE) impractical. We propose a hierarchical resource management system that reduces the order of the VNE computing time to the square root of it in prime condition. We implement the system and evaluate its response time for VNE. Experiment results show the system would achieve practical response time if a platform were deployed across tens of sites.
