Comparative study on 1D phononic crystal vibration transmission

2018
Recently the Phononic Crystals have been an interesting subject in the mechanical and sound structural applications. Their ability to reflect the vibration oscillations in the band width enables the researchers to suggest models that enhances the vibration analysis of such structures. In the medical field, the robotic surgery has got many challenges involving the control and operation of the robotic arms. The current research suggests the application of the Phononic Crystal technology in the development of advanced robotic arms that can promote surgical treatment with less traumatic effects and decrease the haptic effect experienced by the pioneers of the medical field. This paper presents a comparative simulation study of one-dimensional Phononic Crystal rods, with other conventional rods of single-phase material, of common surgical tools like Steel and Titanium.
