2019
This paper is a logical continuation of the authors’ work «Metaphors Eric Bern’s Theories Lived by» which was written as cognitive research and published in «Philology and Man»[Abdyzhaparova, Fedosova, 2019]. This research systematizes metaphors represented in the works of this psychologist and reveals their functional potential. The object of the research is the scientific style of the psychologist, peculiarities and figurative means that are presented in Eric Bern’s works. The objective is to describe the classical features of Bern’s scientific style and to specify the purpose of using these figurative means of expression. But for metaphors, not mentioned before, paroemia and other expressive means (comparison, allusion, hyperbole, irony, metonymy, personification) are used by the author. The paper also describes stylistic features of scientific works of Bern which are determined by his belief system. The following methods were used in the research: the method of semantic definition, the method of observing linguistic phenomena, the descriptive method, the elements of interpretation, conceptual and contextual analysis.
