Design of a Smart Elderly Positioning Management System Based on GPS Technology

As the aging problem continues to deepen, the state and government have issued a series of policies to promote the development of elderly care services, aiming to improve the quality of elderly care services. With the advent of the information age, intelligent elderly care has become the focus of social attention. The living environment of the elderly is becoming more and more complex, and the traditional nursing model can not meet their needs for daily care, medical rescue and spiritual comfort. At the same time, it also increases the problems of care for the children of the elderly and psychological comfort. In recent years, the issue of the missing of the elderly has frequently appeared in the news around the world. Based on GPS positioning technology, this article designs a positioning management system in the smart elderly care model. This article first explains the background, current situation and significance of the research, then introduces the concept of smart elderly care and the working principle of the GPS system, and then designs and explains the work flow and functions of the positioning system. This paper also designed a questionnaire survey experiment to investigate the problems encountered by the staff of the elderly care institutions, community medical staff and residents who need to support the elderly in elderly care services and their needs for positioning services. In the survey results, 86% of people encountered problems that the elderly could easily forget; 67% of people encountered the problem of depression in the elderly; 53% of people encountered problems of the elderly being lost; 47% of people encountered problems with mobility problems.
