Review of terabit/s satellite, the next generation of HTS systems

The purpose of the present paper is to characterize the next generation of HTS allowing to reach the Terabit/s satellite systems. The associated technologies are presented and the challenges ahead are reviewed and assessed proposing solutions to address the identified difficulties.
