Development of ignition-assisting agents for the combustion of densified straw briquette fuel

2009
Several ignition-assisting agents for the combustion of densified corn straw briquette fuel(DCBF) have been developed and studied.A type LLA-6 household cooking stove was used as the experimental device. Two waste liquid fuels(waste engine oil and waste diesel oil) were mixed in different volume ratios(5∶1-1∶5) to make nine ignition-assisting agents.Ignition tests were carried out in order to investigate the performance of nine ignition-assisting agents at different dosages. With the exception of ①JC51,all other eight ignition-assisting agents successfully ignited the DCBF.The ignition-assisting agent ⑨JC15 was found to be the most effective, and could successfully ignite DCBF when the dosage used was more than 5 mL.The use of ⑨JC15 with a dosage of 8-9 mL was optimal, taking only 40 s to ignite the DCBF,which was 30-40 times lower than that without the use of any ignition-assisting agent. This study has therefore solved the problems associated with the ignition of DCBF.
