Polycarboxylic acids, processes for their preparation and their use for treatment of cellulosic fibers or textile or paper materials produced therefrom

There is provided a process for the preparation of specific polycarboxylic acids, containing by oxidative cleavage of double bonds combined with hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide releasing compound. The polycarboxylic acids so obtained are distinguished by an excellent acid stability and thus easy handling in aqueous solution and can be used for treatment of cellulosic fibers or textile or paper materials produced therefrom.
