Two-way shape memory effect with excellent cycling stability in TiNiCuNb alloy

2021
Abstract Two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) and its cycling stability is of crucial importance for engineering applications. In present work, (Ti54Ni34Cu12)90Nb10 alloy with stable TWSME was developed. A two-way shape memory strain of 0.89% was obtained after proper training, which was decreased by 0.14% after 500 thermal cycles. The excellent cycling stability of two-way shape memory effect is due to the improved geometric compatibility between martensite and parent phase and the introduction of β-Nb phase.
