8-epi-pipertriol, a lactarane sesquiterpene from Lactarius necator

Abstract An ethanol extract of Lactarius necator gave 8- epi -pipertriol [(2 R *, 3 R *, 7 S *, 8 S *, 9 R *-5,8,13-trihydroxylactaran-4-ene] in addition to known sesquiterpenes. The structure of this new trihydroxy lactarane was established by 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy and confirmed by chemical correlation with lactarorufin N.
