The invention discloses a polishing method of a chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face. The polishing method of the chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face comprises the steps that an optical fiber is fixed in an optical fiber clamp, the polished face is ground and polished successively by means of polishing paper with the diamond grit being W100, polishing paper with the diamond grit being W30, polishing paper with the diamond grit being W20, polishing paper with the diamond grit being W9, polishing paper with the diamond grit being W3 and polishing paper with the diamond grit being W1 correspondingly, and the polishing quality of the chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face is checked in real time through an optical microscope after each time of polishing. Compared with a traditional polishing method of a silica optical fiber end face, by the adoption of the polishing method of the chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face, polishing can be conducted without a ceramic ferrule for fixing the optical fiber end face, the situation that the chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face is damaged and polluted by scraps generated by the ceramic ferrule in the polishing process can be effectively avoided, and the situation that secondary pollution of the optical fiber end face is caused by high-temperature glue used in the fixing process of the chalcogenide glass optical fiber and the ceramic ferrule is also avoided. According to the polishing method, operation is easy, convenient and fast, pollution and damage, caused by external factors, of the optical fiber end face in the polishing process can be effectively avoided, the quality of the polished chalcogenide glass optical fiber end face is high, and the jumper loss is small.
