Analysis of current treatment status of inpatients with combined diabetes and heart failure

Objective To analyze the treatment status of inpatients with combined diabetes and heart failure by retrospective study. Methods The data were collected from inpatients during December 2007 to February 2008 in Fuwai Hospital. Data of baseline characteristics and the pharmacologic management of heart failure patients with or without diabetes were collected for analysis. Results Most of patients with diabetes plus heart failure were found in patients with ischemic heart disease. The worse angiographic findings and the more increased CABG rate, compared with patients with heart failure, but without diabetes. Therapeutic regimen of heart failure on those patients needed a standardization by guideline. Moreover, the anti-diabetic drugs in managing diabetes patients with heart failure should be paid more attention in the future. Conclusions Standardized and evidence-based therapeutic regimen of pharmacologic management shoule be used on those high risk patients.
