Policy-Based Real-Time Decision-Making for Personalized Service Delivery

2009
Personalization of service delivery is an important means for the telecommunication industry of keeping their customers in spite of their market becoming more open to other players. Personalization involves using user-specific, dynamic information about communication activities, device capabilities, user context, and service availability for making real-time decisions about handling running sessions according to the user's preferences. This paper proposes a flexible mechanism for making such decisions based on policies, and defines an extension to the XACML 2.0 language which enables it to be used for this purpose.
