Raman/IR Spectroscopic Characterization of the Ni(dmit) 2 -Complexes with trans-4-[2-(1-Ferrocenyl)vinyl]-1-Methylpyridinium Chromophore

The composition of this complex wasnot verified because the amount of crystals obtainedwas insufficient for performing a micro-analysis ofthe chemical composition and a single crystal of ahigh quality suitable for X-ray structural analysiswas not obtained. These are the common difficul-ties which are usually faced in the characterizationof a PO complex. These problems can be largelyovercome by using laser Raman spectroscopy inconjunction with an optical microscope attach-ment, a low power laser source (0.06~6 mW) and ahighly sensitive CCD area detector. This equipmentconstitutes a very powerful tool for carrying out arapid and non-destructive characterization of a POcomplex.ET(ethylenedithiotetrathiafulvalene) based radicalcation salts
