Progrès realisés dans la clarification des eaux résiduaires et le séchage mécanique des boues par l'emploi de polymères organiques de synthèse

1974
A fundamental requirement, common to all waste water treatment processes, consists of solid-liquid separation. This serves a double purpose: (a) elimination of suspended matter from the waste water in order to purify the water before disposal (clarification phase) or to permit later re-use in the plant by recycling; (b) maximum concentration of the solids (thickening phase) in the form of slurries or sludges, which then undergo a mechanical dehydration treatment producing a solid sediment, compressible into pellets containing a minimum of moisture, thus permitting economic incineration or removal with a minimum of cost and handling problems.
