The Experimental Study on Acute Respiratory Failure Caused by Burn Associated with Inhalation Injury

Burn associated with inhalation injury usually ends in acute respiratory failure which involves a very high postburn mortality. Retrospective and uncontrolled clinical studies seem unable to offer clear-cut insights into this confusing problem. The experiment reported in this chapter was designed to evaluate and analyze the clinical, pathophysiologic and pathologic changes with well-controlled dogs which sustained extensive burns associated with inhalation injury.
